Welcome to Newark Chess Club
Newark Chess Club meets on Thursday evenings at 7.15pm in the function room of the Rutland Arms Hotel on Barnbygate, Newark, NG24 1PX. Our first meeting of the 2026-27 season is on Thursday 3rd September.
We enter 3 teams in the Nottinghamshire Chess League at a range of levels. We also play social games, and have a number of junior members.

No Club Meeting This Week
The club has been advised that our venue will be closed this Thursday as a safety precaution, and so we will be unable to meet. Our home fixtures will be re-arranged to a later date. We shall meet as normal next week, Thursday, 22nd October.

Newark Schools’ Chess Competition 2025-26 – Second Round
Six schools took part in the second round of the Newark Schools Chess Competition which was hosted by Barnby Road School. The event involved 48 children from twelve teams of four players. The teams were from Barnby Road (2), Chuter Ede (2), John Blow (2), Highfields (1), Holy Trinity (2) and Sutton on Trent (3).
